IFWH announces Ming Wong, MBA, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer

SAN ANTONIO – The Institute for Women’s Health (IFWH) announces Ming F. Wong, MBA, FACHE, as its new chief executive officer.

“I’m honored to join the team at the Institute for Women’s Health, whose physicians deliver one out of every three babies born in Bexar County,” said Wong. “The physicians and staff provide much-needed gynecological, obstetrics and fertility services for women in Texas. It’s important to me to not only continue, but also expand the quality of services we offer as we work to meet the healthcare needs of our patients.”

Wong is a 1979 graduate of the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He then earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. Wong spent the first half of his career in military healthcare, where he served in various roles of increasing responsibility from medical platoon leader to hospital chief financial officer.

For the past two decades, Wong directed finances at a variety of hospitals and medical centers in Texas and abroad. Most recently, he served as the administrative director for neighborhood healthcare centers at the University Medical Center of El Paso Ambulatory Services, El Paso, Texas.

He has more than 35 years’ experience in managerial and leadership positions, with special operational leadership in the areas of strategic planning; revenue integrity and charge capture; ethics and compliance; physician relations and alignment; contract negotiating and administration; and mentorship. Wong has continued to achieve professional development milestones throughout his career, including the chief financial officer development program through Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp, graduating from the CHRISTUS Health Leadership and Ethics Academy and earning board certification in healthcare management.

Wong is past treasurer and board officer of the South Texas chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Silver Caduceus Association and past club president of the Rotary International of Corsicana, Texas. His interests include volunteerism, attending church, fishing, working on classic cars and weightlifting.
