These complications include but are not limited to:

  • Vaginal and pelvic pain
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Erosion (resurfacing) of a mesh or a graft used in pelvic reconstructive surgery
  • Inability to empty the bladder adequately
  • Persistent vaginal bleeding or discharge
  • Blood in the urine
  • Repetitive urinary tract infections
  • Vesicovaginal fistula (abnormal communication between the bladder and the vagina)
  • Rectovaginal fistula (abnormal communication between the rectum and the vagina)
